    On The Road! Probably.  Hopefully.

This summer, the smell of nail polish permeates our home.

Faith is obsessed with nail polish.  She changes her colors daily - sometimes several times daily - and adds coat after coat after coat.  She and her friend, Em take turns doing each others’ nails and coming up with new patterns.

On the plus side, I have a willing pedicurist whenever I want one.

On the minus side, Faith is scornful of my refusal to wear polish on my fingers (it chips too fast!) and looks down her nose at my nude nails.

    Her nails?

    Very well dressed.

Tomorrow I am taking Faith, her fingernails, and Reagan to Chicago where we are going to see Cirque du Soleil’s Michael Jackson Immortal show.

We are beyond excited.  Faith has been an avid MJ fan ever since she first heard of him - which happened to be the day he died.  While Rich and I both appreciate Michael Jackson, neither of us were really fans so Faith didn’t hear his music until that day, and the weeks to follow when it got played non-stop.

    She became obsessed.

So when I heard about this show from a friend I looked up the closest city it would be visiting and got the tickets.  It’s going to be a long drive each way, but totally worth it.

    The only hitch?

My car got towed to the dealership late this afternoon.

I’m pretty sure it’s just a really dead battery and should be fixed first thing in the morning, but … well, it’s always something, isn’t it?

Still, one way or another we are going to get there and it’s going to be awesome.

What’s your big event for this summer?

Our big trip this summer already happened. I spent a week out in Colorado so Adam could run the Hardrock 100 in Silverton Colorado. Otherwise, I plan on taking lots of naps and hopefully having this "nesting" instinct kick in.

Beyond a few more camping trips, our big event to the black hills has already occurred. I may be counting the days until school starts. Have a great time, I have been thinking about you.

Yay!!! I can't wait for you to see the show! Sadly you won't be at my school anymore to compare notes. Hope it knocks Faith's socks off! Enjoy and travel safe!

Big Event 1 = done - took 2nd child to college orientation - it was great. Luckily both of my kids will be at the same college which is less than 3 hrs away.

Big Event 2 - family trip to Hilton Head Island in August. We had one week to do something together as a family due to the kids' crazy summer schedules (i.e.summer school). We usually go to our cottage in Maine but don't have the time this year to travel 18 hrs each way. Looking forward to some R&R and making some memories!

I always wished I was less lazy and thus more apt to have painted nails. The other day I finally felt the urge to do them (only took twenty years!) and then discovered I don't own nail polish. So... that was a bummer. Especially as I am now taunted with the awesomeness of rainbow nails.
